From the void comes a distant noise...a faint whisper of a forgotten memory... Returning from the infinite depths of the recesses of your mind comes familiarity... It's all coming back to you now; you're beginning to remember... A voice you've never heard anywhere but in your mind speaks to you again, for from out of the emptiness awakes the one, the only BlogRottom!
Ha ha! It'sa me! I'm back! For now, anyways. So where was I? I was here, same as always. I just didn't feel like writing for a good long while. But enough about me. What's been going on? Well, In August, I tore my right ACL playing a little lacrosse. I had surgery done in about a fortnight and I've been working on strengthening it ever since. I go to physical therapy three days a week and I've been making fine progress... Additionally, I finally have my driver's license, so I can go wherever I want. Look out, world! I'm gonna be driving responsibly and tryin' to stay safe. Uh, let's see...what else... Oh! So this semester is coming to a close and I have been taking Greek& Roman History and Intro to Human Anatomy & Physiology. I have always wanted to study anatomy, but I never wanted to do anything with it, but between the class and my ACL surgery, I have decided that I want to pursue a career as some kind of surgeon. Fancy that! Me, a surgeon! Yeah, it's gonna take a while to get there, what with my Lyme Disease and all, but the best I can do is to do my best. And that's exactly what I intend to do.
Now, seeing as it is a Tuesday, I suppose I should be talking about...what is it...Tuesday...Tuesday..."Tuesdays is Newsdays" Ah! The news! See, I still know what I'm doing with this blog.
So there have been some new movie trailers, the most memorable at the moment being the trailer for Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. Now, if you haven't seen the trailer and you want to keep some surprises for the movie itself, you should neither watch the trailer nor read my thoughts on it, because here there be spoilers. Now I was genuinely interested in this movie before this new trailer dropped. I had a rough idea as to how the movie might play out, but I didn't know anything for sure. Ben Affleck looked the part of Bruce Wayne, and Man of Steel had already shown me what Henry Cavill can do as Supes. Sure, there were rumors about how maybe LexCorp would use Zod's corpse to create Doomsday, and the shot of Batman grappling away from a burst of heat vision didn't seem like it was Superman's, (why would Superman deliberately fire a death beam at Batman, and why would it be that thick of a beam? Aren't Supes' beams thin and refined, not wild and fiery?) but all of this was speculation. But this trailer...whoo, boy. It's the same as the The Amazing Spider-Man 2 trailer and many before it. The trailer seems to be a condensed version of the final movie, showing you major parts of acts I, II, & III, IN THAT ORDER. It leaves very little to the imagination. I feel like I've already seen the movie, and it doesn't even come out for another few months. Jesse Eisenberg's Lex Luthor (Jr.) is what I think we all feared he might be: a zany, eccentric weirdo with a funny voice and hairs on his head. If it weren't for the short clip of Luthor and Lois Lane talking on a rooftop, I'd be hard-pressed to think that Eisenberg could pull off a menacing and intelligent Luthor if it weren't for that scene. In it Lois calls him psychotic, to which he responds coldly with something to the effect of, "Yes, that three syllable word lesser minds toss around when they can't comprehend the magnitude of something greater." Or something. Anyway, It's tonally inconsistent and artistically poor in the editing. I don't care for the jumpy "footage, cut to black, footage, cut to black" method that was employed several times for several shots. It was staccatoed and segmented and I didn't like it. I'm looking forward to BvS, but I'm not terribly excited for it.
But that trailer for Captain America: Civil War was pretty on point, am I right?! It seems pretty clear to me that the movie is going to differ from the comic it's based on quite heavily, but that was to be expected. The comic brought together (and subsequently divided) practically all of Marvel's major and B-list heroes to fight in a conflict on a large scale and many people had secret identities to protect. The only people in the MCU with secret identities are probably Ant-Man, Spider-Man, and Black Panther, two of whom have yet to make their on-screen debuts. This adaptation was never going to be about registering identities, but it seems that it is about taking responsibility for the Avengers' actions, specifically in regards to the climax of Avengers: Age of Ultron. It was great to see War Machine again, (who's probably my favorite sidekick/B-list hero in the MCU) and good gravy, does Black Panther look sick as! The lines between Cap and Tony that go "He's my friend," "So was I," hit you right--in--the--feels the first time, but when you stop and think about Steve and Tony's relationship in the MCU, they've pretty much always been at odds and that line doesn't really seem deserved. Anyway, I was pretty pleased with the Civil War trailer, and yes, I am biased towards Marvel, but shut up! because this trailer also didn't spoil the movie, so eat that, ya bum!
Alrighty then. I'm whooped. I just finished another dose of IVIG, so I'm just about ready for bed. Don't expect an update tomorrow, but if I do write, tomorrow is Wednesday, so I'll very well talk about something that interests me then. Cool. Seeya.
